What is a demountable wall?

STARC defines a demountable wall as a temporary modular barrier that can be quickly assembled or removed to provide protection from dust, noise and dangerous hazards, such as those created by construction or demolition activities.

Demountable walls may also be installed to control air movement. A good example is the creation of negative air spaces in healthcare settings.

Other common applications for demountable partitions or walls include subdividing office or manufacturing spaces, creating safe passages through construction or hazardous work areas, and providing environmental protection or isolation in buildings, such as entry areas or ante rooms.
