Temporary Construction Walls Streamline Cleanroom Build-Out

Medtronic Leverages RealWall for Superior Dust Containment

Medtronic is among the world’s largest medical technology, services, and solutions companies, with more than 370 locations worldwide. J. Calnan & Associates (JC&A) serves as the construction management team for renovation projects at the company’s Danvers, Massachusetts facility.

Medtronic was extremely pleased we used STARC Systems. The dust containment was far superior to any other product we would have used and it kept Medtronic’s cleanroom dust-free. The panels helped make this project a success.

This project was a cleanroom manufacturing build-out, including the addition of new gowning rooms. The project required ceiling mounted HEPA filters and multiple cord drop panels.

Working adjacent to a cleanroom posed a series of challenges for JC&A crews. Containing dust and debris just to the renovation area, and clear of the cleanroom, was essential.

The JC&A crews installed STARC Systems temporary containment walls, which provided superior dust containment. The walls feature:

  • Foam ceiling gaskets for airtight seals on the top of the panels.
  • Inter-panel dual seals to provide an air-tight barrier.
  • And the tongue and groove seal provides an airtight seal on the vertical frame elements.

“Medtronic was extremely pleased we used STARC Systems. The dust containment was far superior to any other product we would have used and it kept Medtronic’s cleanroom dust free. The panels helped make this project a success,” said John Noone, Vice President of Field Operations, J. Calnan & Associates.

JC&A has completed additional construction work at the Medtronic Danver’s facility including cleanroom, laboratory and tenant space renovations. STARC Systems temporary containment walls were used in all additional Medtronic renovations.
